HIDE

Posture
BY
Marika Orenius

Posture: a state (of mind), position, (mental) attitude, frame of mind, situation, condition, pose. The societies use faceless power. In individual level developed self-discipline submits a human being to constant control at the risk of being revealed: Am I normal? Have I done something inappropriate? Why one produces self-discipline or a self-conscious, ‘inner jail’ type of condition?

The described theme is brought up in the video work, where the characters perform at times, the focus is on space and architecture. The scenes are filmed in actual conditions: in school, in the hospital and at home, where the human being defends and protects his/hers selfhood in various ways. As an installation the video is projected on a 3m X 2m wide screen, which is inside a wooden house structure (3m X 2,7m X 5m). The exterior wall of the structure are made of interior material, dark brown panel.
