Renting works from Filmform is easy and accessible for various kind of screenings. Below is a step by step guide on how to preview and order titles in the distribution catalogue.
Browse the catalogue
Use Filmform’s extensive online catalogue to find the title(s) you are looking for. You can either browse by artist or title as well as use keywords or run a custom based search. If you feel uncertain what it is you are looking for or need guidance, please do not hesitate to consult the staff at Filmform to help you with your project. Filmform is one of the oldest archives solely dedicated to experimental film and video art and have considerable knowledge in the field.
Most of the titles in the catalogue are digitized and therefore available online for previewing. Fill in the form below where you describe your screening/exhibition/research project. Filmform will then guide you in how to use the online preview service. As for the titles that are not yet available online you can always make an appointment at our office as far as space allows. Curators are given precedence over researchers and students. In case you have no possibility of visiting our office just let us know and we will work something out for you. A large portion of our collection is also available for research purposes at the National Library of Sweden (KB).
Placing an order
When you have found the title(s) you require, please send us an e-mail with your order request to email@example.com.
You will be asked for the following information:
- Screening date(s)
- Short description of the programme/exhibition
- Number of times that the requested title(s) will be screened
- Required format and screening context (i.e. cinema, part of installation or exhibition)
Please note that Filmform needs to receive the order three weeks prior to the scheduled screening date. If this time limit is exceeded an express fee (15%) will be added to the total price. Once Filmform has confirmed the order, a return mail including important rental conditions and instructions on how to obtain the requested material will be sent to the renter. The return mail contains the Filmform logo to include in print material as well as online presentation. If requested, we also provide promotional still images with the permission to use in connection to the screening/exhibition. A confirmation of the order by Filmform is required before the requested title(s) is considered available.
Rental fees are listed below. These are standard rates that may occasionally vary in a few individual cases. The amount in full will go to the artist without exception.
500 SEK per title
Subsequent screening in the same place: 250 SEK per title
Subsequent screening in the same program or context but in another venue: 350 SEK per title
50% discount on all prices listed in the Single screening section above. Some exceptions may apply.
Exhibition (looped installation)
Installation price rates will vary according to the size of the venue/renter including number of participating artists and number of weeks. The rates are based on “MU-avtalet”, a national agreement that guarantees originators right to compensation. To learn more about “MU-avtalet” and the different rates, please do not hesitate to ask us or see the attached PDF’s
For every order a 10 % administrative charge (minimum 300 SEK) is required as well as a small file handling / file delivery fee consisting of 200 SEK per file.
Shipping cost will apply when handling physical formats. In case of film prints, a print check fee consisting of minimum 300 SEK will be charged.
Additional charges may occur as for consulting, production cost or research fee onsite at Filmform.
The prices mentioned above do not include VAT. VAT is 6 % for screening fees and 25 % for all other services. Renters in EEC countries must supply their own VAT number with the order or VAT will be added to the bill. No VAT is added for payments from countries outside EEC
One title scheduled for a single screening: 500 SEK
VAT (6%): 30 SEK
Administrative charge: 300 SEK
VAT (25%): 75 SEK
File handling /file delivery fee: 200 SEK
VAT (25%): 50 SEK
TOTAL: 1155 SEK (including VAT)

Available formats & delivery
The majority of all titles in distribution are available digitally. Filmform also provides a selection of rare 16mm screening copies for some of the titles.
Most digital files can be delivered through a download link. However screening files that need to be delivered by post such as hard drives, USB sticks and film copies requires insured post or courier service (preferably by FedEx). All shipping charges, including any customs clearance must be paid by the renter.
Physical screening copies must be returned to Filmform no later than two days after the screening date or end of the exhibition. Digital screening files need to be deleted on all technical equipment immediately after the screening or exhibition date. We encourage you to send us promotional materials, program notes, reviews or audience feedback that result from the screening.
Once your order has been confirmed, Filmform will send an invoice that must be paid before scheduled screening/exhibition date. The invoice contains all the necessary details for local and international payment and can be sent to you both by email or post depending on your need. Make sure to transfer the total amount to Filmform’s account, including bank fees or service charges.
