“Awakening Film (First Square)” was filmed in the Malmö cinema Panora back in 2019 and was edited and completed during spring 2020. The material is a ritualistic three day long art performance during the Fish Tank exhibition, and the general aesthetics adress century old experimental silent movies, some works by Maya Deren and contemporary Japanese art. The sibling of this film is “Awakening Film (Will Never Happen)” which is differently cut and proportioned, in color, with sound. A dark figure builds and deconstructs something, using a lot of materials, a lot of string, yarn, tape et cetera. Time goes backwards and forwards.
