“Be Careful and be Beautiful” was filmed with an old mobile phone during the weekend long performance art piece “Wearing the Territorial (Down)”, performed at Q-Teatteri in Helsinki 2010. The film was edited 2011. Sounds from the irl event has been remodelled and intertwined with new sounds, turning into a music piece; the imagery shows actors becoming parts of the scenography with threads and sewing. The voice is Leif Holmstrands.
Leif Holmstrand (born 1972, living in Malmö) is a Swedish poet, novelist, artist and musician of non-straight, psychedelic, queer heritage, with a great interest in archaic means of expression and classical ways of composing, structuring, rhythmization. The poetry book “Inte världen / Not the World” (Albert Bonniers Förlag, 2022) lingers in the field where the physical universe overlaps the senses, at the very borders of personality and perception, and deals with the constant process of dying — and growing, changing, giving different kinds of births. This is also very true when it comes to their art and film production.
