SuperTwins
BY
Tobias Bernstrup

Recorded in 1999, way before talent shows invaded our screens – Tobias Bernstrup’s work Super Twins documents two young sisters who are dreaming of a popstar career. The project consisted of two separate videos; one documentation of the twins recording in a music studio where the artist takes the role of their producer – and a second part; Super Twins (video) – a DIY music video where Super Twins performs one of their songs dressed up in glossy vinyl skirts and thigh high boots alternated with Kraftwerk inspired red and black uniforms.

With a fascination for the artificial surface of popular culture Bernstrup raises questions about identity and gender as a construction.
