Who is Zdenko Buzek is a portrait of an artist who lives and works in Zagreb. Mr. Buzek is played by himself, following a script by the filmmaker. The voice-over, read by a young girl, contrasts naive statements about Mr. Buzek’s life with his activities on screen. The film borrows the visual language of informational films, while playing on the convention of memory flashbacks in feature films. The written text relays information without imposing a hierarchy on the different facts, the implied ‘big picture’ (the war between Serbia and Croatia) is interwoven with everyday statements about the main character and his friends.
