About the artist
Maxime Hourani (Beirut, 1982) is a multidisciplinary artist and architect. He works with time-based media on themes related to transformation of landscapes and shifting ecologies. His speculative surveys explore the poetical and political. His current research focuses on 19th-century Arab futurism, questioning the existence of posthuman thinking at the turn of the industrial revolution. In past projects, he explored the themes of petromodernity and the influence of the 1970s oil crisis on architectural technology in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
