An Everywhere of Silver
BY
Mai Hofstad Gunnes

The preparations for a balloon mission to Mars are the starting point for An Everywhere of Silver. The Mars Society Germany launches two test vehicles prior to their mission planned for 2017. The border between documentary and fiction fades as footage from a rocket launch is intercut with a story staged by two female dancers. The two women represent two experimental spacecraft; Miriam a.k.a. Main Inflated Reentry Into the Atmosphere Mission test, and Regina a.k.a. REsidual Gas INflation test for Archimedes. By fusing the spacecraft and the dancers, the film explores personification at the heart of rocket science.
