Expulsi is a filmic interpretation of mythological motifs, primitive rites and notions taken from Sami culture in northern Sweden. Carved figures and forms in black and white represent a pagan world of signs, an esoteric symbolism that pays scant attention to the public mind or the ephemeral quality of life and our inevitable fate.

About the artist

Born in 1934.

Painter and filmmaker. Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Lives in Stockholm and Lappland. Erling Johansson was elected and active member of the legendary ”Arbetsgruppen för film” wihich included internationally renowned Swedish poets and artists such as Öyvind Fahlström and Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd in th 1950s, 60s and 70s.
