Born 1991 in Italy. Lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Chiara Bugatti holds a BFA from the Academies of Fine Arts in Venice (2014), an MFA from Umeå University (2016), and a Postmaster from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2021). Her practice focuses on materiality, particularly soil and stone, exploring monumentality, permanence, possession, and power. Against contemporary ecological and socio-political urgencies, Bugatti engages the “tool” as both functional object and poetic gesture. Her work unfolds through an open-ended method where fiction and reality overlap, allowing fragmentation, incompleteness, and dependency to become active conditions of her work. Recent exhibitions include Beit El Sennari (Off Biennale), Cairo; Alta Art Space, Malmö; Greenlight Triennial, Norway; Haninge Konsthall; Carl Eldh’s Ateljémuseum; Mint Konsthall; Uppsala Art Museum; Borås Art Museum; Fabrikken for Kunst og Design, Copenhagen; and Stuttgart Art Museum, Germany.
