Filmform (est. 1950) is dedicated to preservation, promotion and worldwide distribution of experimental film and video art. Constantly expanding, the distribution catalogue spans from 1924 to the present, including works by Sweden’s most prominent artists and filmmakers, available to rent for public screenings and exhibitions as well as for educational purposes.
Another Birth is a quasi-autobiographical film exploring the poetics of place, the psychic attachments to it and the crystal-image of time.Throughout the film, seemingly insignificant moments are captured as fragmented memories of something distant, imbued with a sense of longing for another place and time.
Mirrors and water recur throughout the film, drawing on the transient qualities of light and reflection found in Iranian architecture. The film’s title is borrowed from the poetry of Forugh Farrokhzad:

Mehregan Meysami works primarily through a media-archaeological approach, at the intersection of moving image, printmaking, and photography.
Analog film and text are at the core of her artistic practice, which also encompasses installation, sculpture, sound, and works on paper.
Her work is oriented toward a socio-political horizon and investigates how techno-mechanical images shape the world and our perception of it. She continually returns to questions of representation, authenticity, space, memory, and time — but also to their erasure. Influenced by historical turning points, my practice engages with reinterpretations of history and recontextualizations of text and archival material. Meysami is drawn to an in-between space where the poetic and the political cannot be separated — where knowledge does not emerge directly, but is instead found within gaps, fragments, and displacements, and where poetry is inevitably political.
