| MOVING
JAPANESE
23 aug-28 sept 2003 at Kulturhuset, Stockholm
The exhibition “Moving Japanese” wants
to explore the connection between the public space and
the moving image. The exhibition also wants to explore
how expressions of the Eastern culture sphere can be
understood in a different cultural context. Moving,
the English word for touching (emotionally) and motion,
with both of its meanings; on the one hand the artists’
desire to move their audience and on the other hand
the tendency in contemporary art to move outside geographical
and technical boundaries.
Coming!/Filmform Foundation have invited the curator
Hitomi Hasegawa. Participating artists: Mitsuhiro Ikeda,
Shiro Masuyama, Midori Mitamura and Satoru Tamura.
Opening: Saturday

| IS
REALITY REALLY RELEVANT?
Seminar on documentary film and art
14+15 February 2003 at Färgfabriken, Stockholm
More and more artists use documentary material and
documentary aesthetics in their works. Within documentary
film making it has, simultaneously, become more common
that the film maker’s subjective point of view
is expressed. “Is reality really relevant?”
asks which road artists and film makers will choose
in the future, at a time when reality is in fashion
and docu- has become a favourite prefix. What responsibility
have the film makers got towards those who are depicted?
Is reality relevant without an interpreting subject?
How do the film makers and artists view their own position
in their own works? How does the viewer relate to what
is portrayed?
The seminar invites international film makers, artists
and theorists to presentations and talks about artistry
and the documentary. The seminar is arranged by Filmform,
Färgfabriken, IASPIS and Swedish Television.
The seminar is held:
Friday 2 February 1-7 pm
Saturday 15 February 10 am – 01 am
(Saturday from 7 pm: dinner, bar and mingle)
How to apply:
Send an e-mail to reality@fargfabriken.se and state
your name and telephone number 6 February the latest.
The prize of a two day seminar for 300 kr. Lunch and
dinner is included Saturday. N.B. Limited number of
seats.
Venue: Färgfabriken,
Stockholm.
Address: Lövholmsfabriken
1, Liljeholmen, Stockholm.
(Underground: Liljeholmen or the tram to station Trekanten)
